Keenan Norris’s novel Brother and the Dancer is the winner of the 2012 James D. Houston award. He holds an MFA from Mills College and a PhD from the University of California, Riverside. Keenan serves as a guest editor for the Oxford African American Studies Center and he teaches at Evergreen Valley College. He is also a lecturer at CSU East Bay. Keenan’s short work, both fiction and nonfiction, has appeared in numerous forums, including popmatters.com, Post-Soul Satire: Black Identity After Civil Rights, Inlandia: A Literary Journey Through California’s Inland Empire, BOOM: A Journal of California, New California Writing 2013, and Connotation Press. He is also the editor of the groundbreaking Street Lit: Representing the Urban Landscape. Forthcoming work will be published in Akashic’s Oakland Noir.
