Joseph Luzzi is Associate Professor of Italian and Director of Italian Studies at Bard. An active literary and film critic, his reviews have appeared in such places as the The American Scholar, Bookforum, Cineaste, and TLS. He is the author of Romantic Europe and the Ghost of Italy (Yale University Press 2008), which received the Scaglione Prize for Italian Studies from the Modern Language Association of America. Currently, he is writing a book on Italy and Italian culture, from Roman times to life under Silvio Berlusconi that will be published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
