Avgi Saketopoulou

Dr. Avgi Saketopoulou is a NYC-based psychoanalyst of mixed Greek and Greek-Cypriot background. She trained at the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis, where she now teaches psychosexuality and polymorphous perversity. Avgi is also on faculty at the William Allanson White Institute, the New York Psychoanalytic Institute, the Stephen Mitchell Relational Center and the National Institute for the Psychotherapies in NYC. She serves on the editorial boards of Psychoanalytic DialoguesJournal of the American Psychoanalytic Association, The Psychoanalytic Quarterly, and Studies in Gender and Sexuality and has received several prizes for her published work, including the annual JAPA essay prize, the Ruth Stein prize, the Ralph Roughton award, and the Symonds essay prize. She is currently working on a manuscript on psychosexuality and race that takes up the enigmatics of consent.
