Alta Ifland

Alta Ifland was born in communist Romania, came as a political refugee to the US in 1991, and currently lives in Northern California. A PhD in French, she is the author of four books of short stories and prose poems and of numerous translations. Ifland’s novel, The Wife Who Wasn’t — a satirical comedy about Moldovans versus Californians in a post-communist world — and her translation (with Eireene Nealand) of Le Camion by Marguerite Duras (The Darkroom, Contra Mundum Press), are coming out in spring 2021.
