Alana Shilling

Alana Shilling is a contributor to several publications including The Brooklyn Rail, Art in America and The Fortnightly Review: The New Series. Since 2003, she has published critical essays on the arts and humanities. Her recent work includes a feature on ancient Cypriot art, the history of printed books, reviews of contemporary artists including Giosetta Fioroni and Bill Traylor, emblem studies and a monthly column on theatre in New York City. Shilling received her PhD. in comparative literature from Princeton University in 2011. Her research there focused on the empirical qualities of “forgetting” in Latin, Italian, Arabic and English.
