Meenakshi Gigi Durham

Meenakshi Gigi Durham is a professor of gender and women’s studies at the University of Iowa’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication and the recipient of the Teresa Award for Feminist Scholarship. As a journalist, essayist, and academician, her work has appeared in various publications, including Feminist Media Studies and the Harvard Review. Her bestselling text, The Lolita Effect: The Media Sexualization of Young Girls and What We Can Do About It (2008), has been highlighted on the BBC, The Dr. Phil Show, and the Oprah Winfrey Network’s documentary Miss Representation.
