Lorraine Daston is a historian of science whose work focuses on the history of rationality. She is director emerita of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin and a regular visiting professor in the Committee on Social thought at the University of Chicago. In 1993, she was named a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
