Art Spiegelman

Art Spiegelman is one of the most famous, influential, and admired comic artists of all time. He is celebrated for his autobiographical graphic novels which often tackle highly controversial topics, such as the Holocaust (Maus, 1980–1991) and the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York City (In the Shadow of No Towers, 2002–2003). Together with his wife Françoise Mouly he established the groundbreaking magazine Raw (1980–1984, 1986, 1989–1991), which offered comic innovators from all over the world a platform. From 1992, he spent a decade as contributing artist for The New Yorker.
